Their width, elasticity, and internal bladder design are specifically engineered components of the KAATSU methodology.

The bands are designed to apply localized pneumatic pressure while the KAATSU protocol is intended to maintain arterial inflow and temporarily moderate venous return.

Rather than spreading pressure across the wider surface area characteristic of many tourniquet-style cuffs, the AirBand's bladder applies pressure along a narrower portion of the upper arm or upper leg.

KAATSU AirBands are designed to work with KAATSU Cycle mode, in which pressure increases incrementally and is repeatedly released.

Cycle mode is the standard starting mode for new KAATSU users.

Clinical-Grade Tourniquet Systems

Another distinct category consists of personalized tourniquet systems designed for clinical use.

Delfi PTS is a prominent example.

These systems measure Limb Occlusion Pressure and then use that measurement to prescribe a percentage of pressure for a rehabilitation or exercise protocol.
