REHABILITATION & RECOVERY

Discover the unique sensation of KAATSU, the physiological mechanisms that drive tissue repair, and why KAATSU is the ultimate tool for safe rehabilitation and rapid recovery.

WHAT DO YOU FEEL WITH KAATSU?

  • When the bands are inflated on your upper arms, you’ll feel gentle pressure for 30 seconds.
  • Your hands may get slightly pink or rosy, showing increased blood flow in your veins and small blood vessels.
  •  After 30 seconds, the bands will deflate and you’ll feel an immediate release.
  • The pooled blood flows back toward your torso, supporting circulation and vascular elasticity.
  • The bands then automatically re-inflate at a slightly higher pressure. The increase is gradual and typically not noticeable. This cycle repeats as desired.
  • The same process applies when using the leg bands.

BENEFITS FOR REHABILITATION

  • The primary benefit in a rehabilitation setting is to prevent muscle atrophy and restore function without mechanical stress.
  • When we are injured or recovering from surgery, heavy weights are dangerous or impossible to lift.
  • Because KAATSU creates a hormonal response using only very light or no resistance, you can stimulate muscle synthesis and connective tissue repair while keeping your joints and post-surgical sites safe.
  • Release of Nitric Oxide improves circulation to injured areas, reducing inflammation and accelerating the expected healing time.
  • KAATSU allows the body to realize the benefits of exercise while remaining in a safe, low-impact environment.

THE PROCESS AND YOUR BODY'S RESPONSE

  • Bands are placed either on your upper arms or legs in the Cycle Mode.
  • This mode automates a rhythmic compression and decompression sequence that safely allows oxygenated blood to flow normally to your limbs while temporarily slowing the rate at which blood flows back to your torso.
  • This causes your limbs to become engorged with blood, stimulating the cardiovascular system without the need for heavy load-bearing exercises.
  • Even at rest or with light movement, your brain responds as if your body is working harder than it actually is by briefly altering your body flow.
  • In response, our bodies release a surge of reparative hormones and metabolites, including Human Growth Hormone (HGH) for tissue repair, Nitric Oxide for vessel dilation, Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF) for new blood vessel formation, and IGF-1 to support muscle maintenance.

PROVEN TRACK RECORD

KAATSU pioneered BFR (Blood Flow Restriction) rehabilitation. Its patented equipment and protocols continue to  set KAATSU apart in safety, convenience, and efficacy.

Medical Adoption: KAATSU is currently utilized by physical therapists, physiologists, cardiologists, and orthopedic specialists to accelerate post-surgical recovery.

Cardiac History: KAATSU has a rich history of Japanese research and application in cardiac rehabilitation, helping patients improve vascular elasticity without straining the heart.

Military & Veteran Care: The system is actively used within the Department of War and by veteran organizations to treat catastrophic limb injuries and assist in physical therapy for wounded warriors, proving its efficacy in the most demanding rehabilitation scenarios.

Commitment to Recovery

KAATSU is a valuable tool for supporting recovery and restoring function after injury or surgery. It helps reduce muscle loss and support tissue recovery, especially for patients who cannot perform heavy or high-load exercises.
